sounding off about the election

At the ripe old age of 24, this is the second election in which I will be voting, but I will admit that it is the first that I feel educated and passionate about. In college, I never really cared about politics, because that was what old people talked and cared about and it seemed like such a snooze-fest. But since the nominees were chosen for this election, I have foregone my usual reality tv show preferences, and have instead opted for Fox News and CNN. And now I guess you can call me a psuedo-political junkie. I can not tell you what is going on with Lauren and Heidi on The Hills, or who is this season's Dancing With the Stars favorite. But, I do feel confident about my knowledge of the the current Presidential nominees and what their political agendas are. And quite frankly, the thought of Barack Obama as our next president is scary to say the least.

This is my main concern (although there are several more):

Senator Obama, you make great promises of how you will better American education. You deem it necessary to have voluntary mandatory childcare starting at the age of 3 (paid for by tax-payers), and brag about how you will make college affordable, so that more people have better "opportunities". But, what is the point? After years of education, why would anyone be motivated to take risks, strive to be successful in a company, or start their own business if it means that the government will step and and say "Thank you, 'so-and-so' for your years in college and your hard work, now give us your money so we can give it to someone else who we think deserves it more". If anything, Mr Obama, your message screams "just be average". Don't excel. And don't think that you are allowed to decide what you will do with your money. Afterall, there are strangers that deserve your money more than your family or future does.

Aside from all of this Obama say that 95% of tax-paying Americans will receive a tax-cut, yet he has proposed 1 trillion dollars in new spending. Is he really saying that 5% of the wealthiest Americans are going to foot this bill? Impossible. This leads me to believe, that there will be high taxes on more than just "those making more than $200,000 a year".

On November 4th  I will be voting for John McCain. And that is my endorsement. However, if Obama wins, I think I will quit my job and just go on welfare. Then life will REALLY be good. Hakuna-Matata! (Enter sarcasm).
